The course is based on the National Maritime Training Package. There are range of requirements set down by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority before issue of a licence will be given.

Our program offers flexible learning to fit in with your work commitments. This will include assignments which you will complete in your own time. Once your assignments are completed and marked you may book in for the 2 week tutorial and the theory and practical assessments. The tutorial and assessments are conducted in small groups with other students at Whitsunday Maritime Training Centre.

If you decide to enrol in our flexible learning program we will email an enrolment form to you for your completion and return. An invoice will be issued for the course fee which can be paid by credit card or direct deposit. Once your enrolment fee has been paid your tutor will contact you to evaluate your level of experience in the marine industry and to discuss your individual learning plan. Your performance expectations and contact with your tutor will be discussed with you and your assignments and learning guides will be issued.

Completion over 18 weeks with private tuition available by appointment at WMTC throughout the course at no extra cost. Highly qualified and experienced marine masters and engineers are accessible and ready to help by email, phone or in person as part of our ongoing commitment to you.

Task Book completion – up to 12 months (if applicable).

If you have the required sea time approved by the authority (AMSA or their agent) you may not need to use a Task Book to complete your course.

You will need to discuss this with your tutor after enrolment to decide if you have the suitable evidence to satisfy the practical experience required.
