Attain this qualification through flexible learning. Complete assignments in your own time and send in for marking, attend the 8 day face to face (Monday to Friday week 1) tutorial and practical assessment.
The pre-requisite Shipboard Safety Skill Set is scheduled in conjunction with the Coxswain qualification  for your convenience.

This course is based on the National Maritime Training Package (MAR). There are a range of requirements set down by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) before issue of a licence will be given. Classes are  conducted in small groups with other students at Whitsunday Maritime Training Centre.
You are welcome to phone or email for more information about our delivery of  flexible learning.

If you decide to enrol in our flexible learning program we will email an enrolment form for your completion and return.
The course fee can be paid by credit card (over the phone) or direct deposit. Once your enrolment fee has been paid your invoice/receipt and your assignments and learning materials will be posted to you.

You will be asked to complete a Summary of Maritime Experience so that we can ascertain your level of maritime experience. Highly qualified and experienced marine masters and engineers are accessible and ready to help by email, phone or in person as part of our ongoing commitment to you.

Completion  up to 12 months
If you have the required sea time you may not need to use a Task Book

MARC037 Operate inboard and outboard motors
MARI003 Comply with regulations to ensure safe operation of a vessel up to 12 metres
MARJ006 Follow environmental work practices
MARK007 Handle a vessel up to 12 metres
MARN008 Apply seamanship skills aboard a vessel up to 12 metre

MARSS00008 Shipboard Safety Skill Set
MARF027 Apply basic survival skills in the event of vessel abandonment
MARF028 Follow procedures to minimise and fight fires on board a vessel
MARF029 Meet work health and safety requirements
MARF030 Survive at sea using survival craft (optional)

For duties the holder of a Coxswains Grade 2 may perform refer to the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D – Crew Competencies.
